A witchy writing group for visionary authors who want to grow their craft in community.

The Coven

Group Coaching

Where do you turn to access expert and peer support, gentle feedback, and encouragement to keep working on your writing?

Every witch needs their coven: the people they turn to for community and ideas about how best to use their magic. Literary witches are no different.

Visionary writers—thought leaders, academics, intuitives, and passionate creatives—know that no one writes a book alone. We all need mentors and peers to uplift us and friends to cheer us along as we reach new heights of creative success.

Imagine stepping into a welcoming cohort of fellow writers who know that writing your story is powerful magic.

Welcome to The Coven—a group coaching program where you’ll work alongside other multi-dimensional writers to cultivate a powerful writing mindset, build a sustainable creative practice, and sharpen your craft.

Reclaim your creative power.

The Coven is for thought leaders, academics, visionaries, intuitives, and changemakers—writers who are ready to make real progress on their books and who are hungry for the magic of writing with others.

Summoning your book into being requires more than grit and determination. Working with a guide and alongside a group of fellow literary witches provides the camaraderie you’ll need to weather the ups and downs of the writing process and stay devoted to your book.

The Coven is your crew—a group of writers who bring experience and enthusiasm to the writing process, who can help you troubleshoot your stickiest challenges, and who are there to celebrate when you break through a writing block at last. The Coven is where you step into your fullest power as a writer alongside other authors making that same brave leap.

The Coven

The Coven is a 6-month, cohort-based group coaching program. We’ll draw on creative ritual and magical activities, research-driven writing strategies, and group wisdom to help each member of The Coven deepen their creative practice and make progress on an important writing project.

The Coven is open to authors of fiction (novels and short stories) and authors of nonfiction (memoirs, business/education books, and academic texts). Each session of The Coven will welcome a maximum of 5 members.

Your Coven cohort will have a private community space where you can share ideas and discuss writing with one another and the Literary Witch.

We will also meet twice each month to work on writing as a group. One meeting will focus on creative ritual, leveling up your writing, and lessons from the Literary Witch and guest experts. A second meeting will serve as an opportunity for feedback on your writing and group coaching with the Literary Witch.

Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to schedule two individual meetings with the Literary Witch. Together, we’ll clear your writing blocks and discover new ways to access your creative magic.

The Coven invites you to pursue your wildest, most magical writing dreams—and bring them into being alongside a community of fellow magic-makers.

The Coven is for you if you are...

The Coven is for writers who believe in the power of community to support their writing and help them grow their craft. No one writes or publishes a book completely alone—and navigating the writing process gets easier with a trusted crew and an experienced guide.

The Coven is open to novice and experienced writers of fiction and nonfiction who are committed to human creativity. Novelists, memoir writers, academics, intuitives, and business owners can all find their people in The Coven.

I have three degrees in writing, including a BA in creative writing, and an MA and PhD in rhetoric and writing studies. I have designed and taught university writing courses, coached and judged writing competitions, written and published a book and peer-reviewed academic articles, ghostwritten several books, and completed a Poynter ACES Certificate in Editing.

I coach authors working on nonfiction books (thought leadership, business books, and memoir), academic and academic crossover texts, and novels. Writers I work with have gone on to land contracts with major and indie publishers and pursue self-publishing and hybrid publishing.

I read and write extensively on writing practices, creative development, magic and creativity, and the publishing process. I regularly attend industry conferences and trainings to provide the best support and advice to the authors I coach.

There is no guarantee that coaching will produce any specific level of success in your writing practices or provide a particular outcome, including publishing. I wish I had access to that specific type of magic!

Numerous factors contribute to your publishing results and, as with any class, training, or coaching relationship, your results are determined in part by how you apply the lessons, material, and feedback. When it comes to traditional publishing, luck is also a component!

I do not take on coaching clients who are using tools like ChatGPT, Claude, etc. to produce writing.

I believe that storytelling is a uniquely human act. Using generative AI to output text strips the work of your voice, thoughts, and perspective. Content produced by generative AI is not eligible for copyright, which also presents a significant problem for thought leaders, academics, and all writers who care about ownership of their work.

Generative AI products are built on stolen creative labor (including mine!). Generative AI is environmentally destructive, produces endless amounts of slop and deliberately harmful content, and is linked to state surveillance and violence.

For these and many other reasons, I do not use generative AI in any capacity and will not provide coaching for people using generative AI to produce text. Read my full AI policy.

Magic and strategy play equally important roles in cultivating a creative practice that can sustain you through all the ups and downs of writing a book. Building an energetic relationship with your idea is as important as writing an outline or setting a schedule.

If there are specific practices you’d like to lean on (or avoid!), we will honor that preference in our work together. Intuitive work is not intended to supplant or stand in for therapy, self-care, or religious belief. There is no dogma here; only exploration.

The Coven is $400 per month for 6 months ($2,400 total). Additional payment plans are available upon request.

Discounts are available for neurodivergent, BIPOC, and queer writers, as well as graduate students. Please contact me to learn more about the reduced rate.
